This is The CW Austin’s sixth year for the popular and coveted on-air entertainment position in Austin. The search started in March with an open audition at Hill Country Galleria and call for online submissions. The station chose four finalists. The fifth finalist was chosen out of 25 semi-finalists by the CW Austin viewers with online votes. All five finalists have participated in screen tests, interviews and various assignments auditioning for the position.
“Becoming The CW Star is truly an honor,” said Chesnutt. “I am so grateful for this opportunity to deliver unique entertainment coverage to central Texas. I look forward to highlighting the great programming the station has to offer along with the fashion, food, film and music that makes Austin such a great place to live.”
Chesnutt, who was raised in Austin, is a graduate of Texas State University. She received a bachelor’s degree in public relations with a minor in media studies. She also holds an associate’s degree in radio television and film from Austin Community College. Chesnutt enjoys volunteering with her church and is a big supporter and certified volunteer for Austin Pets Alive. A proud owner of an adopted dog from the shelter she enjoys spending her free time caring for the pets waiting to be adopted.
Chesnutt receives a one-year contract to represent the station in many exciting ways during as the face, the voice and the personality that is The CW Austin. The CW Austin Star has a full calendar of entertainment, community and station-sponsored events, including delivering nightly reports of the latest in local entertainment news.
