AUSTIN (KXAN/KNVA) — If you ever dreamed of running away and joining the circus, now is your chance.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is conducting a nationwide search to find their next ringmaster.

“A good ringmaster, I like to say, is like part Broadway star, part newscaster, part stuntman,” says Rye Mullis, a former ringmaster who now directs the show.

The first auditions were in Dallas and will continue in Las Vegas, New York, and Orlando.

People came from all around to participate.

Russ Lowry drove three hours.

“I am dedicated,” he said. “I would’ve walked backwards, naked, in a rainstorm, on fire ants to be here today.”

Our own Joe Barlow also participated. Watch the video above to see how he did.
