Ricky Williams talks comedy, gives Mel Brooks credit for his Heisman Trophy

AUSTIN (KXAN/KNVA) — You probably know Ricky Williams from his athletic prowess on a football field but after this weekend, you might know him from his comedy.

Ricky is a part of the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival. He’ll tell stories as part of a show called “Stool Pigeon”. Improvisers will use his personal stories to create original scenes.

“I’m the kind of person where any time something new or different or exciting comes across my table, I’m always saying yes,” said Williams. “I think comedy is one place where you can push the envelope and so I’m looking forward to that opportunity.”

Ricky promises the show will feature his “overly frank” style and will touch on his somewhat controversial past.

Watch the video above to hear Ricky explain how Mel Brooks and the film “Blazing Saddles” helped him win the Heisman Trophy.

“Stool Pigeon” is Saturday, September 3rd at 11:00 PM at Stateside at the Paramount.
