‘Found Footage 3D’ refreshes horror genre

AUSTIN (KXAN/KNVA) — Comedy, horror, and 3D don’t seem to go together but an Austin made film is proving it can be done.

Found Footage 3D is a film that’s already got some festival attention and now it’s having its Austin Film Festival premiere.

“The movie is a marriage of my two favorite horror movies, which is Scream and The Blair Witch Project,” says writer and director Steven DeGennaro. “I love found footage when they’re done well, and like everybody I hate them when they’re done poorly, so I wanted to make a movie that sort of made fun of the crappy found footage movies. But at the same time, pay homage to the best of the genre. And then the 3D thing sort of came in through the process of writing the script. We realized that we could shoot the movie in 3D without increasing our budget by all that much. And nobody had ever done it before”

You can see the film screen on Tuesday, October 18 at 10:00pm.
