AUSTIN (KXAN/KNVA) — Heroes are everywhere in hospitals and they just happen to be dressed as nurses and doctors.

But they also are sometimes dressed as actual superheroes.

Dr. Byron Holt is a cardiologist at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas and he and his patient, Ethan Jeter are heroes in their own ways.

“I think Ethan represents a lot of our children who have this strength that I’m certain they don’t even recognize, says Dr. Holt. “And maybe one day he’ll understand how strong he is, but today he’s just a normal happy kid. And that’s our goal.”

Ethan was born with only 3 heart chambers which required two major surgeries (even though he’s only 3) and will need another surgery around age 5.

Ethan’s mom, Megan Jeter credits the team with her son’s health today.

“Without them doing what they did for him, I wouldn’t have him. So they may not think that they are [heroes] but he’s helped me get this kid.”
